JIMMY CUSACK
1946-1985

Jimmy Cusack was born in Lancefield in 1946. He began his tennis as a junior and played for St Mary’s, Romsey and Lancefield Tennis Clubs. He was the number one senior player for the association for many years.
He was President of the Lancefield Tennis Club, a committee member of the Gisborne District Tennis Association (became Macedon Ranges Tennis Association in 1997)
Jimmy was a member of the associations Junior Match & Permit Committee, organized many Junior Tournaments, competed in many tournaments and was Association Captain at Country Week Tournaments in Bendigo.
He was Vice President of the association at the time of his untimely death. Jimmy coached for approximately ten years and many juniors were encouraged and enthused by his love of tennis.
Sadly he collapsed on the court during a tournament playing the game he loved with a passion and died soon after. Jimmy’s involvement in tennis with the association as a player and coach spanned more than 25 years. The first Jimmy Cusack Tournament was held at Lancefield Tennis Club in 1986.
